About Us
Who are we?
RC3 is the Red Cross and Red Crescent Research Consortium. It is an open, collaborative, and coordinated network of entities and initiatives created within the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement that are entirely or partially dedicated to conducting and promoting research in the humanitarian field based on scientific methods. Besides connecting their specific expertise, RC3 members join forces to support the Movement in utilizing research to achieve its community-driven goals and missions aligned with the strategic frameworks of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
What we do
RC3 was set up in 2019 and is based on the idea that science can improve the quality of humanitarian services and help the Movement respond to growing global humanitarian challenges. RC3 works with National Societies, the IFRC, and the ICRC to help them build safer, more resilient, and more sustainable communities. The consortium produces knowledge based on primary or secondary data, optimises existing resources and develops creative tools to make research more accessible. It promotes and supports Movement-wide research collaboration and helps develop a solid scientific culture rooted in a people-centered approach.
How we work
RC3 has a Steering Committee to support the consortium in its daily coordination, to make recommendations based on collective consultation, and to represent it, where necessary and as decided by its members. It is composed of 5 to 9 voluntary members that represent the diversity of the Consortium. RC3 also has a coordination team to support its daily work.
